What are LED Stadium Lights?

LED stadium lights are LED versions of classic sports lighters. By using specialized narrow beams lenses, stadium lights can project large amounts of light over long distances.
Typically installed at 40ft to 80ft high, they are classified as high mast lights in the industry. The high wattage combined with high elevation require specialized fixtures with stronger surge protection, paint finishes and drivers.

LED Stadium Lights are providing, convenient, reliable, and better performance than the traditional lighting ways, which have a great impact on the results and cost savings. Cost savings here refer to maintenance cost, electricity and longer lifetime so lower replacement.

LED Stadium Lighting :

The new LED Stadium Lights are far better than the traditional stadium lighting fixtures such as halogen, fluorescent, HPS and metal halide; as they are more suitable for spacious sports fields and large areas. These stadium lights are shining brighter and clearer and also, the power consumption is much lower. So you will get both, a better lighting and great electricity cost savings.

The design of LED flood lights are good for outdoor sport fields such as football, basketball, tennis courts. They have a wide range of wattage from 100 up to 1500 watts, as well as, a high total lamp efficiency; and energy saving up to 85 percent  with a great lifespan that may reach 50,000 hours for some products.

The high quality LED stadium lighting fixture have high IP ratings up to IP66, it allows them to work under harsh conditions; and also solving the heat dissipation problems in the traditional lights which lead to better working and longer lifespan.

LED Stadium Lights Features:

These Stadium lighting fixtures have great features comparing to the traditional lighting methods such as:

  • A wide range of products from 100 up to 1500 watts, this means more shiny and brighter lighting
  • High lamp efficiency (may reach 160 lumen per watt)
  • Energy saving with some fixtures that can save up to 85%
  • High lifespan (up to 50,000 hrs)
  • Solve heat dissipation issues that affect lifespan
  • Various lens beam angle: 10, 25, 45, 60, and 90 degrees that can be used for different application.
  • High-quality and easy installation
  • High IP Rating (IP65, and IP66)
  • Work under harsh environmental conditions with models with high IP Rating

What are the beam angles of LED Stadium Lights ?

Stadium light beam angles are classified by NEMA as 1-7, with 1 being very narrow and 7 being very wide. With modern LED technology we are able to use very specific beam angles such as 20, 30 or 40 degrees. 20 degrees, 30 degrees or 40 degrees are the most common beam angles in stadium lighting because they work effectively from 40-100ft high.
The degree is calculated based on a flat led surface being 180 degrees wide and the lens narrowing that down to focus the light.

Glare-Free Design is a Necessity

Glare-free LED stadium lighting is a must for the safety and enjoyment of everyone at an event. Glare can cause accidents and mishaps that affect both players and fans, as well as have an adverse effect on broadcasting.
Game-winning touchdown passes can be lost in the glare produced by poor lighting choices. Baseball players can be sidelined after absorbing the impact of a speeding ball if the ball field lighting is not good. Spectators can also be injured in this same manner.
Fans will become uncomfortable if they have to squint the entire game because of poor lighting. Glare-free LED stadium lighting is also advantageous to the broadcasting and journalistic worlds.
Though cameras see the light differently than the naked eye, improper lighting can still cause glare. LED lights offer the correct options for balanced lighting making even the most important sporting events look fantastic on television or in person.

LED Stadium Lights Usage:

It’s so obvious that Stadium Lights are being used for sport fields or any large or spacious areas that need high lighting power such as:

  • Football, Handball, and Basketball
  • Golf Courts, and Tennis Courts
